Our Community

Our school works together with a number of different people from inside and outside our school.

Children in Need day raised £109 by the children wearing their own clothes.

We supported The Poppy Appeal from the sale of poppies and other items in school with the help of our Year 2 helpers

We encourage our parents and Governors to come into school through a range of different ways.

We have a very close relationship with our on site pre-school, Little Acorns and Widney Junior School.

Our assemblies are sometimes visited by People from our local community.  The Reverend Paul Day (Vicar of Shirley Parish) has visit us to speak to the children at Harvest and Christmas time.

We also have had our local PCs (a parent)  and Nicky Wright  Project Support Officer Highway Management |  Economy & Infrastructure as part of Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council as part of our focus on keeping safe out of school.

We work closely with a local business  MV Kelly. (civil engineering) They have supported us over the years with building projects and advice to enhance the school.
We have had parents into school to discuss their faith and cultural traditions with classes.
We have had in water aid in to talk about the importance of saving water

Links with our families

Throughout the year there are many opportunities to share our learning with our families eg celebration, harvest,  family and whole school assemblies, performances, Year R Stay and Play, animation sessions, E-safety and sing up assemblies, curriculum workshops, special lunches, celebration of learning and any extra festivals which crop up - eg kings coronation.

Links with our Junior School

We work very closely with Widney Junior School.  Our Junior School invite Yr 2s to events throughout the year eg. Christmas school play, sports day events and come and visit us to discuss transition.

Links with Solihull Methodist Church

We are fortunate to have “Open the Book” visit and perform in our assemblies. This is a drama group from the church that perform stories from the Bible with the help of the  children.

We work with the Church and our Harvest donations of food go to Helping
Hands to distribute to needy people in the Shirley area.

We invite the local residentual care home to join us when they can throughout the year for special events.  Recently they have been to join us for our harvest and Christmas assemblies.
